Our Specialty Services

Sleep

Occupational therapy can support better sleep by addressing emotional regulation, physical activity, sleep preparation routines, environmental factors, behavioral approaches and mindfulness techniques that influence sleep quantity and quality. Clients learn how lifestyle habits affect circadian rhythms and sleep drive. For people struggling with chronic insomnia, we offer cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, also known as CBT-I.

Improving Safety and Preventing Falls at Home

Feel safer and more confident at home and in the community.  Our fall-prevention evaluations go beyond identifying environmental barriers and potential hazards.  We consider a person’s individual goals and interests, as well as balance, mobility, mobility devices, footwear, medications, vision, attention, sleep, and energy level. We provide education on exercise, cognitive skills, ergonomics for daily routines, improving sleep, medication management, as well as energy conservation techniques to reduce the risk of falls. We make practical recommendations for bathroom safety and for aging-in-place home modifications.

Bone Health

Osteoporosis is often a silent disease, with no symptoms until a fracture occurs. Many people are unsure where to find accurate information about how to manage osteoporosis or osteopenia. Lifestyle modifications for bone health include proper nutrition, safe exercise, getting adequate sleep, managing stress, reducing fracture risk and preventing falls. A BoneFit-trained clinician can help you learn spine-safe ergonomics for daily activities, understand which movements and exercises are beneficial and which to avoid.  The therapist can also evaluate your home, work, and community environments for safety and fall prevention.

Emotional Regulation

Daily routines and emotional health are closely connected.  Your habits influence your emotional health, and your emotional health affects your daily habits.  We help clients recognize the signs of stress and anxiety, and identify triggers such as environmental factors and underlying sensory processing challenges.  We help clients incorporate simple, realistic strategies into their daily routines to help them manage stress in everyday life and improve their participation in activities important to them.
